The Bathroom Argument, the Nuclear Disasters, and Scripture

Yesterday I was reading through first Thessalonians.
A verse jumped out at me. Scripture has never lept off the page for me before, so I nearly had a mini heart attack.
The verse was 1 Thessalonians 5:3(KJV)
3 For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.
When I read it, the verse no longer looked flat, but rather alive. It literally seemed to jump off the page. I immediately thought of the safe spaces put up in schools so they can actively avoid what Matt Walsh has to say on transgenderism. They don't even have to attend his speeches, and they set up 'safe spaces'. Peace and safety is getting screamed about to.

However, I puzzled over what the destruction meant... I didn't fully understand the verse, though I understood it a bit more than on previous readings of it. It looked normal again a moment later
Then I remembered the story the bathroom argument is distracting us from and the media is failing to tell us.

There are currently three nuclear disasters going on while people scream about peace and safety and argue over bathrooms.
